BRIDGE Outreach Worker/Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (Southern Illinois)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate BRIDGE Outreach Worker/Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) to join our dynamic team in Southern Illinois. This vital role is responsible for providing community-based outreach, engagement, and peer-informed recovery support to pregnant women, postpartum women, and women with dependent children affected by substance use disorder (SUD). This role focuses on building trusting relationships, identifying individuals in need of services, reducing barriers to treatment, and supporting sustained recovery. The staff member uses trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered approaches to provide early intervention, brief screenings, recovery coaching, and linkage to needed treatment and community supports.

Duties

• Conduct targeted outreach to identify pregnant and parenting women with SUD or related risk factors in clinics, hospitals, social service agencies, probation offices, and other community settings.
• Build and maintain relationships with referral sources (OB/GYN offices, FQHCs, hospitals, WIC offices, courts, DCFS, birthing hospitals, community agencies) to promote program services and streamline referrals.
• Participate in community events, health fairs, coalition meetings, and public awareness activities to increase visibility and access to PWWDC services.
• Assist in the development and distribution of outreach materials that reduce stigma and promote program awareness.
• Use lived experience and CPRS training to provide peer-based recovery coaching, modeling hope, resilience, and healthy coping skills.
• Support clients in setting and achieving recovery goals through encouragement, accountability, and strengths-based approaches.
• Facilitate connections to treatment, recovery groups, harm reduction supports, and community resources.

Qualifications

• Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or equivalent state-recognized peer certification, required within one year of employment
• Lived experience in recovery from substance use disorder with at least two years of sustained recovery (per agency and certification requirements).
• Experience in outreach, community engagement, or working with high-risk or underserved populations preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented practices, harm reduction, and community resources.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license and car insurance required.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive during day time or evening hours required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,500.00 per year
