Responsibilities:
Hour House is seeking to fill an INTERN/PRACTICUM position to add to our team of professionals in a specialized treatment program for individuals with Substance Use Disorder. Most of the individuals are survivors of physical or sexual abuse or other serious trauma. Candidates will assist in helping staff in the agency’s continuum of care including detoxification, residential, extended care programs, outpatient and intensive outpatient. Opportunities also exist for students who are interested in agency community programs that focus on training, technical assistance, primary prevention and community planning and development. The candidate will shadow Hour House staff as they work directly with clients and conduct assessments, provide counseling, facilitate educational and therapy groups and meet with family members who are willing to be supportive of the client or with staff who work in schools and communities to address prevention, training, stigma reduction and community planning. Exposure to documentation in the agency’s electronic medical record and in completion of required reports and plans is also part of the experience.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will bring a variety of skills, experience and education. Persons with 1-3 years of continuous drug free recovery, and seeking education and future employment in Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation, Recovery, Social Work, Community Education and Health Administration.
Job Type: Full-time/Part-Time
Pay: Paid and unpaid opportunities available. Paid positions require commitment of a minimum of two semesters at a range of $17-$19 per hour.
